Deepwater Formation Evaluation

Coring Services

Baker Hughes provides coring services to obtain formation samples that can yield key data about the reservoir, such as rock properties, water saturation and wettability. With a full line of coring systems, we can match the technology to the formation to be cored. One recent advance is the CoreDrill system that enables the rig to drill and core alternately without tripping the bottomhole assembly. Cores are retrieved by slickline. Our new anti-whirl low invasion bits improve core integrity by eliminating damage caused by dynamic bit whirl. And, the new Gel Coring™ system preserves the core’s wettability characteristics to gain quality information from the formation samples.

The Rotary Sidewall Coring (RCORSM) service is an advanced, computer-controlled, and hydraulically powered coring device for cutting and retrieving multiple sidewall core samples. These samples are used to help oil and gas producers better evaluate their reservoirs and maximize hydrocarbon recovery. Click here to see Baker Atlas Geological Systems
