Diamond FRAQ™ HD

Applications

Diamond FRAQ HD fluid is a weighted viscoelastic surfactant (VES) fracturing fluid developed for high pressure oil and gas wells. It shares the internal breaker system of all fluids in the Diamond FRAQ fracturing fluid product family. The objective of weighting DiamondFRAQ HD frac fluid with water soluble salts is to create greater hydrostatic head that in turn decreases surface treating pressure on wells that are expected to be treated at or near the pressure limitations of the stimulation pumping equipment.

Advantages

  • High-density frac fluid reduces surface hydraulic horsepower requirement on high pressure frac jobs or enables greater fluid injection rate at maximum pressure
  • Common, easily obtainable calcium chloride and calcium bromide weighting salts are about half the cost of sodium bromide at most densities
  • Maximum fluid density of 14.6 lb/gal is best in class; competitive fluids are usually only 12.5 lb/gal or less
  • Internal VES viscosity breakers ensure 90-100% proppant pack regained conductivity compared to 50% or less for competitive fluids
  • Non-damaging additives extend VES frac temperature stability to 300°F (149°C) and reduce leakoff rate
  • Very efficient surfactant package is usually run at 2 to 6% by volume (1 to 3% active VES) at temperatures from 70° to 300°F (21° to 149°C)
  • Brine density and type can be chosen to enhance VES fluid viscosity and stability
