Ruby FRAQ™

Ruby FRAQ™

Applications

Ruby FRAQ™ is a high-temperature, high-pH fracturing fluid that uses a low residue derivatized hydroxypropyl guar (HPG) polymer, crosslinked with zirconate ions. The fluid is designed for higher temperature fracture stimulation and frac pack applications of 250°F to >350°F (120°C - 180°C). The polymer is used in concentrations from 30 to 60 lb/1,000 gallons depending on formation temperature, permeability and pump time. Crosslink time can be varied from instant to greater than ten minutes depending on well treatment requirements. The chemicals used to formulate Ruby FRAQ™ are oil and grease free and do not contain any priority pollutants.

Advantages

  • High temperature viscosity stability
  • The Ruby FRAQ has good to excellent fluid efficiency allowing fracture geometry to be achieved in high kH intervals
  • The fluid has demonstrated good return permeability on Berea core
  • Viscosity in 100's of cps at high bottom hole static temperatures
  • Predictable performance enables a controlled break time that allows optimization of pump time, well clean up, and minimizes damage to the formation and proppant permeability
  • Compatible with normal additive packages

Additional Information

  • The fluid system incorporates either a surface crosslinker or delayed crosslinkers to minimize shear degradation when pumped through the work string and gravel pack tools
  • Ruby FRAQ is a high pH crosslink fluid, crosslinking at a pH > 9.5
  • Zirconate crosslinkers are used to provide high temperature fluid stability and provide the desired x' link time
  • The fluid demonstrates pseudo perfect proppant transport and excellent proppant support in pH ranges above 9.5
  • Applicable in reservoir temperatures > 350°F (180°C)
  • The Ruby FRAQ can be formulated with a combination of soluble and encapsulated breakers. This allows proper gel breaks to be achieved in the proppant bed and gel filter cake as well as the reservoir matrix permeability
  • It is not recommended to pump Ruby FRAQ through crossover service tools
