Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) – Tertiary Recovery

Whatever the tertiary recovery technique, Baker Hughes understands the diverse set of challenges associated with enhanced oil recovery, and we'll work with you to optimize production and minimize the operational risks associated with EOR. No matter the challenge, we offer the combination of optimum services that's right for your system using proven products that maximize hydrocarbon recovery today and in the future.

CO2 Flood EOR

Managing CO2 flood EOR operations is a demanding but rewarding prospect. Successful CO2 floods deliver good return on investment and can greatly extend the productive life of an oilfield. But CO2 floods have their own unique challenges that can shut down your production very quickly and rob you of your investment return:

  • Severe corrosion
  • Paraffin or asphaltene deposition
  • Mineral scale deposition
  • Natural and biogenic H2S
  • Challenging gas and fluids separation

Overcoming these challenges requires advanced oilfield products and services from people who understand CO2 flood production.

Thermal/Steam/Fire Flood EOR

In steam flooding and in-situ combustion (fire floods), accelerated corrosion and scaling processes are common. Additionally, produced fluids can suffer from complex emulsions that are very difficult to treat. To help keep you producing at maximum capacity, Baker Hughes offers customized TRETOLITE Fluids Separation Technologies and corrosion and flow assurance products and services for your thermal recovery operations.

Polymer Flood and Chemical EOR

Properly selected and implemented, polymer floods, surfactant assisted water floods, and alkaline-surfactant-polymer floods all are proven, highly effective EOR techniques. However, in each of these cases, water breakthrough to producing wells can dramatically increase fluids separation challenges. This is because the properties of the additives that make them effective in aiding hydrocarbon recovery from the reservoir can exacerbate oil/water emulsion tendencies. Baker Hughes understands the properties and causes of oilfield emulsions, and has the products and services to safely and effectively treat them in EOR processes.
