DEMANDTRAC™ Cooling Water Treatment Programs

Although you may be over-treating your cooling water to avoid the penalties if something goes wrong, chances are you may not have a sufficient treatment level in your system to meet the system demand when upsets occur.

Why waste money on insurance you don't need?

You lose money - and you don't get the reliability you need. Why put up with that...
when you can have this instead?

DEMANDTRAC Water Programs - Doing More with Less

System Variability – Causes and Effects
Cooling water can be affected by many things – excess suspended solids from a recent rainfall or clarifier upset, process leaks, pH control failures, blowdown lapses, even solids and chemicals the cooling water has scrubbed from the air.

Dispersants are crucial to a well-maintained cooling water system. With not enough dispersant in the system to handle the increased load from an upset, a dangerous chain reaction starts. Deposits form. Heat transfer efficiency drops. Under-deposit corrosion starts where corrosion inhibitors can't reach. And, bacteria grow under deposits, changing the local pH and accelerating corrosion.

In the past, one had to compensate for a lack of tight control over dispersants – paying for extra insurance by over-treating. When an upset occurred, the reaction time to adjust dispersant may have been slow, and one may have relied on guesswork to determine the right level of dispersant to meet the system demand. Now, Baker Hughes makes these approaches obsolete.

DEMANDTRAC™ Traceable Dispersant
The Baker Petrolite Water Treatment Programs features the unique DEMANDTRAC™ copolymer, highly effective in dispersing solids and preventing calcium phosphate precipitation. Even better – the copolymer is traceable. Each molecule has a detectable "tag" that becomes undetectable as soon as the molecule is used.

Now, one can control dispersant levels using residual measurements. By always knowing exactly what levels to feed to meet system demand, only the amount needed is used. And, one can respond quickly to upsets by measuring polymer residual in the system. With Baker Petrolite Water Treatment Programs, customers save money – and have better assurance of trouble-free operation than ever before.

Best-in-Class Automated Feed and Control
Baker Petrolite Water Treatment Programs include an affordable, sophisticated computer control system that can measure and track virtually everything that can be measured by an instrument.
