D Technology Tricone
Directional by design
This step change in roller cone drilling ensures consistent build rates with higher instantaneous and overall ROP. Potential roller cone directional challenges–such as unreliable bearing performance, excessive OD wear, and high cyclic loading failure–have been diminished significantly to reduce trips.
- Higher ROP
- Reliable build rates
- Fewer trips
Starts fast and stays fast
Our roller cone directional cutting structures are setting new performance standards from kickoff to TD. The carbide volume in the critical heel-adjacent heel area has been optimized to distribute the work rate effectively across the bit face. This design approach reduces tracking and eliminates balling for improved cutting structure integrity without sacrificing speed.
D Technology steel tooth bits are designed with our highly successful MaxLife™ cutting structure for significantly greater durability in ultra-abrasive directional applications or our industry-leading FastMax™ high-ROP cutting structure that is increasing ROP by more than 30% in less-abrasive intervals.
Expect fewer trips
In directional roller cone drilling, the rapid breakdown of the noncutting structure elements causes excessive trips. D Technology Tricone bits include patent-pending updrill protection, double the amount of STLTM hardfacing, and high-strength legs for fewer trips.
