Overview - AutoTrak® X-treme®
 
 
The AutoTrak® X-treme® service combines INTEQ's state-of-the-art AutoTrak Rotary Closed Loop System (RCLS) with the industry's most advanced motor technology - delivering precise wellbore placement with unparalleled drilling efficiency.

The AutoTrak Rotary Closed Loop System (RCLS) and X-treme technology Positive Displacement Motors (PDM) are both industry leading systems, each of which delivers significant performance benefits. Prior to the introduction of the combined service, operators were forced to choose the technology which best suited the particular application.



While performance motor drilling delivers high power directly to the bit for higher penetration rates, some of the resulting time savings are offset by operations associated with directional drilling control and physical hole quality. Application of AutoTrak RCLS eliminates the inefficiencies of conventional directional drilling control for improved gross ROP however, in some formations, the system's instantaneous ROP was often lower - indicating the potential for further performance improvement.



Additionally, rotary steering requires continuously high rotary speed delivered from surface which may not be achievable or desirable as it may stress the rig's rotary system and cause excessive casing or drillstring wear.
